What Are Aluminium Sheets, Plates & Coils?
Aluminum sheets, plates & coils are versatile materials known for their lightweight nature that make them suitable for various industries across applications. Their excellent machinability enables cutting, drilling and forming processes allowing productivity increases as manufacturing and fabrication operations can save both time and cost in manufacturing operations.
Aluminum sheets, plates and coils boast superior corrosion resistance that makes them suitable for outdoor applications in environments exposed to harsh elements or potentially corrosive substances such as marine, automotive or construction industries. Their corrosion-resistance ensures durability and long term use across these industries.
Aluminum sheets, plates, and coils boast excellent welding ability that facilitates efficient joining processes during fabrication. Welders can utilize various welding techniques including TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding, MIG (metal inert gas) welding or spot welding with ease for efficient joining processes and product innovation. This characteristic facilitates complex structure creation while adding design flexibility and product innovation for complex assemblies or products utilizing this characteristic.
Due to their exceptional properties, aluminum sheets, plates and coils find widespread application across a range of industries. Their lightweight nature and strong strength-to-weight ratio makes aluminum ideal for aerospace manufacturing while in automotive production it can help construct body panels chassis heat exchangers to enhance fuel efficiency and performance.
Aluminum sheets, plates and coils find applications across numerous industrial sectors. Electronic manufacturers utilize them in casings, heat sinks and printed circuit boards as thermal conductivity materials that also offer electrical insulation properties; construction uses include roofing cladding panels that add strength, durability and aesthetic appeal; while transportation, packaging and renewable energy systems find use.

Melting and Casting
Steel and alloying metals are loaded into an electric arc furnace. Once in the furnace, the metal is heated to a specific temperature above its melting point, usually in excess of 2800°F.
Forming
Most cast steel is formed by hot rolling—the slab, bloom, or billet is heated and passed through large rollers, stretching out the steel into a longer, thinner form.
Heat Treatment
Heat treatment strengthens rolled steel by recrystallizing the deformed microstructure. Most steel is heat treated by annealing.
Cutting or Machining
Steel is cut to a specified shape and size. The steel can be sheared with circular knives, sawed with high-speed blades, or blanked with punches.
Finishing
Steels can be made with a wide variety of surface finishes. The chosen surface finish is not purely aesthetic. The type of finish is determined by the intended application.
